Our Story

It Started with a Bucket

Before LynkSpyder existed, there was a five-gallon bucket. And inside that bucket was a tangled mess of clamps, brackets, and whatever else I could cobble together to mount a camera to a chain link fence.

My wife and I have three kids — all athletes, all playing ball from the time they could swing a bat or field a grounder. Like a lot of sports families, we were often headed in different directions on any given weekend. One kid had a tournament in one city, another had a game across town. We didn't want to miss the big moments — the diving catches, the clutch at-bats, the plays they'd be talking about at dinner for weeks. So we started recording games.

I was wedding photographer, side job hack, I had the gear. What I didn't have was a clean, simple way to mount a camera to a backstop fence. Every field was different. Every fence was different. And every Saturday morning started the same way — hauling that bucket of mismatched hardware to the field, spending fifteen minutes rigging something up, and hoping it held (sometimes it didn't)

I knew there had to be a better way. So I looked around, and found nothing. No product existed for what thousands of sports parents clearly needed.

From Sketch to Saturday

I'm a tool designer by trade, so I did what I know how to do — I sketched up an idea. I showed it to my buddy Dave on a Wednesday. By Friday, we had a working prototype in hand. That Saturday, we brought it to a tournament in Kansas.

By the end of that weekend, I had a list of over twenty people who wanted one.

I had no plan to start a company. I certainly had no plan to build an entire product category from scratch. But the need was real, and the response was immediate. So we spent the rest of that summer refining prototypes, learning patent law from the ground up, and figuring out how to build a website and an e-commerce store. In July of 2013, we received our first provisional patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and LynkSpyder was officially born.

Pioneering an Industry

When we launched, there was no "fence camera mount market." There were no competitors, no comparison guides, no category on Amazon. Just a sports dad with a prototype, a patent application, and a hunch that other families needed this too.

That hunch turned out to be right. Within months, LynkSpyder was in dozens of states and shipping internationally. Over the years, other products have entered the space we created — and we welcome that. More options means more families are capturing the moments that matter. But we're proud to be the ones who started it all, and we're still here, still innovating, and still making every product right here in the United States.

Why It Matters

Fast forward to today, and those three ball-playing kids have grown into remarkable adults — MBAs and marathon runners, a police officer and a nurse. Some played college ball; all earned college degrees. They've traded batting gloves for badges and business plans, and we couldn't be more proud.

If we're being honest, there are always things we feel we could have done better as parents. But raising our kids with Christian beliefs and a foundation in faith gave them something that far exceeds what any sport ever could. Sports, though — sports gave each of them additional tools to navigate this world. Discipline, teamwork, resilience, how to win with grace and lose with grit.

And those multiple terabytes of game footage we've accumulated over the years? That's one of my most cherished possessions. I still re-watch them regularly. A homerun, a throw down to second, or across the diamond. The look on a kid's face after they just did something not everyone can do. Those moments don't come back — but when you capture them, they never really leave.

That's Why We Do This

LynkSpyder was never about building a business. It was about making sure no parent has to miss a moment — even when life pulls you in different directions. Every mount we ship carries that same purpose we started with: help families hold on to the memories that matter most.

Thank you for being part of our story. Now go capture yours.
